HUMBOLDT AREA FOUNDATION

The Humboldt Health Foundation (HHF) accepts proposals annually in August for its Community Health Grant Program, which supports projects that enhance physical and mental wellbeing of Humboldt County residents with priority given to organizations serving Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities. Grants range from $5,000–$8,000 on average, with a maximum of $15,000, and can support general operating costs, programs, services, advocacy, organizing, and racial equity initiatives.

The Humboldt Health Foundation offers nursing scholarships up to $1,500 for students from Humboldt County pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher advanced nursing degree program. A total of $5,000 is available annually, with preference given to BIPOC students and those committed to serving underserved and rural communities.

The Angel Fund provides small grants to support unmet health needs of Humboldt County residents through qualified sponsors such as social service agencies, school counselors, or medical providers. Grants typically range from $50–$250 and are made on a one-time basis per person per 365-day period.

The Native Cultures Fund provides grants to support California Indian culture bearers, artists, lifeways, and knowledge transmission, including the renaissance of California Native art, culture, sacred sites, and language development. Grants range from $1,000 to $10,000, with two granting rounds per year (spring and fall deadlines on April 15 and October 15).
