Community Urgent Relief Fund (CURF)

The Community Urgent Relief Fund is Kalamazoo Community Foundation's rapid-response grant program designed to provide emergency funding during community crises and natural disasters. Currently focused on supporting residents and nonprofit organizations serving those impacted by the May 7, 2024 tornadoes in Kalamazoo County. The fund provides flexible, one-time awards for direct assistance, temporary housing, home repairs, and disaster response services.
Eligibility
- notes: Eligible applicants: 501(c)(3) nonprofits, individuals or groups with 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, and public entities providing direct services to Kalamazoo County residents impacted by the May 7, 2024 tornadoes. Priority populations include BIPOC community members, individuals over 65, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, households below ALICE threshold, and those experiencing systemic barriers to government resources.
