About this grant
The Kansas Department of Agriculture administers the federal USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant Program to enhance the competitiveness of Kansas specialty crops through marketing and promotion, research and development, expanding availability and access, and addressing challenges facing specialty crop producers. Specialty crops include fruits and vegetables, dried fruit, tree nuts, horticulture, and nursery crops including floriculture. Applicants may request up to $100,000 per project for up to three years, with no matching funds required.

- Notes: Applicants must be a legal entity with legal capacity to contract. Funds will not be awarded for projects that solely benefit a particular commercial product or provide profit to a single organization, institution, or individual; single organizations, institutions, and individuals are encouraged to participate as project partners. Encouraged applicants include schools, colleges and universities, extension programs, and research institutions. Projects must benefit the specialty crop industry and/or the public rather than a single entity.
