About this grant
A competitive subgrant program funded by the U.S. Department of Energy through the Inflation Reduction Act to help small and medium-sized Tennessee manufacturers transition from internal combustion engine vehicle and component production to hybrid vehicle and hybrid component manufacturing. Funds support retooling, equipment purchase and installation, and integration of hybrid production technologies. TDEC anticipates awarding 5–10 subgrants of $500,000 to approximately $1,000,000 with at least a 50% cost share.

- Notes: Applicants must operate a manufacturing facility in Tennessee; fall within NAICS codes 3361, 3362, or 3363 (motor vehicle and parts manufacturing); employ fewer than 500 employees at the applying facility; have annual revenue below $250 million; currently manufacture ICE vehicle equipment, components, or systems; and propose a project transitioning production toward hybrid vehicle or hybrid component manufacturing. Projects must include a retooling strategy, workforce retraining plan, measurable milestones, and a three-year implementation timeline, with all work performed in the United States.
