About this grant

The Texas Community Development Block Grant (TxCDBG) Community Development Fund provides funding for infrastructure improvements that principally benefit low-to-moderate income persons. Common projects include water/wastewater infrastructure, street and drainage improvements, and housing activities. Applications are accepted every other year through a two-stage competitive process across 24 state planning regions.

Eligibility details

  • Notes: Eligible applicants must be non-entitlement units of general local government (cities with populations under 50,000 that are not central cities of an MSA and not participating in urban county programs, or counties generally with fewer than 200,000 persons in non-entitlement areas). Applicants must levy and collect a local property tax or local sales tax and meet progress thresholds for existing TxCDBG grant agreements.
